Welcome to the Brightwaters Guesthouse:Garden level flat! The charming, sunny Garden level flat is centrally located in Hendersonville on a private, multi-home property, close to downtown (only 3.5 miles).Perfectly situated for exploring DuPont and Pisgah's waterfalls and trails, Asheville, Brevard and more. This historic home is ideal for couples, business travelers or friends traveling together.

The Guesthouse, established in 1938, has a celebrated history. Today, the fully renovated flats (this listing is for the Garden level)Please see listing for the upstairs Verandah level) offer guests all of the comforts of an elegant Southern home.

Our History

The Brightwaters Guesthouse was originally built in 1938 as an 8 bedroom, 6 bathroom guesthouse. The founder, Samuel Childs, built the Brightwaters Guesthouse and Lodge and Dining Room, as well as 25 cottages on his 400 acres, in the surrounding area. The entire resort was called Brightwaters Estates, and was frequented by guests, primarly from Florida, looking to escape the summer heat and enjoy the cool, mountain air. On the grounds of the Guesthouse, Childs renovated an 1800's one-room schoolhouse to make it the dining hall for guests staying at the Guesthouse and the surrounding cottages.

In the 1970's, the Guesthouse was renovated into 2 flats (one upstairs and one downstairs). Each flat had 2 bedrooms/2 baths, a living room, a dining and a kitchen. And the former, interior staircase was removed.

Today, the Brightwaters Guesthouse takes back it's original name and has been refreshed and restored to it's former glory, exposing the refinished hardwood floors and tongue and groove paneling. The Brightwaters Guesthouse offer guests the opportunity to step back in time and enjoy it's timeless elegance.

The Garden level flat is a great house for getting away to enjoy the outdoors. Very close to all of the best mountain biking and hiking trails - DuPont, Pisgah, Bent Creek and Mills River. Accommodates a maximum of 4 people. Minutes to grocery and restaurants. Only 11 miles from the Asheville Airport. The Brighwaters Guesthouse is centrally located to dining, breweries and entertainment in Hendersonville, Brevard and Asheville, as well as other areas, such as Tryon and Saluda. All within a 30 minute drive.

The Brightwaters Guesthouse:Garden level is on a quiet cul-de-sac in a small, private sub-division, owned by me. This is a multi-home property, so it is ideal for large groups. Check out my other cabins, the Guesthouse:Verandah level, and the Foxhole Cottage by clicking on my profile picture.

Brightwaters Stone Home Rental

The home was beautifully appointed, clean and extremely comfortable. It was wonderful and more than exceeded our expectations. The living areas were very nice as were the bedrooms. Elisabeth had all kinds of information available on area attractions and responded immediately to any questions via email or phone. She provided excellent suggestions regarding the dining choices in the area. Top notch service. We will definitely be going there again in the future! - Frank

Beautiful landscaping, house, and wonderful owner!

The first rental I've been to where the house is better all around than the photos on the internet. The owner met us with a smile and was very charming and you could tell by talking to her that she truly cares about her clients as well as her property. We were extremely comfortable and we plan to come to the house in the future!

Greeting from NJ!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a great stay at the Brightwaters: Garden, the pictures do not do this listing justice. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Elisabeth who gave us a tour of the house plus back ground information how the house went from a hotel to its current state. The house was spotless, stocked with everything you could possibly need; Elisabeth even had a grocery store discount key for our use (nice touch). We loved the breakfast bread that was left for us to share in the morning (local baker) with our coffee. Elizabeth had several maps and pamphlets available for us to reference during our stay. She asked about our interests then gave us options and recommendations (which I highly recommend). The house was centrally located to everything we wanted to do (within a 20 mile radius); we were able to access all the “hot spots” within ½ hour, 45 minutes. The stone porch was so relaxing for our morning coffee or evening unwinding after a day of hiking the national / state parks in the area. If you are arriving late, I suggest you bring coffee and filters for your first morning, however the grocery store is less than 2 miles away and I believe may be open 24 hours. The grocery store also has a nice selection of wine / beer. We highly recommend this listing and will certainly stay here on our next visit! Patti & Bev

Lovely Weekend

My husband, sister-in-law an,d I took a road trip into North Carolina to see the Biltmore, but we wanted to stay somewhere a bit quieter than Asheville. We found the perfect place in Elizabeth Perez's beautiful, historic stone home in Hendersonville. Elizabeth met us when we arrived at the home, full of personality and enthusiasm. She gave us tips on restaurants on Main Street and on finding lovely walks and waterfalls in the area. Her home is beautifully decorated and quite comfortable. We spent each evening on the large porch chatting about what we had done that day. The property is surrounded by trees and is peaceful and quiet. The Biltmore visit was great, but we really loved the Hendersonville area and spent most of our time there. This house is perfect for a couples getaway, or can be enjoyed by a group or family as there are more rooms upstairs (which were unoccupied during our stay). We found we'd barely scratched the surface of hiking, shopping, and dining (don't miss the McFarlan Bakery downtown!) near Hendersonville and we'll definitely be back for more, and to enjoy this charming home again.
