Welcome to the Brightwaters Guesthouse:Garden level flat! The charming, sunny Garden level flat is centrally located in Hendersonville on a private, multi-home property, close to downtown (only 3.5 miles).Perfectly situated for exploring DuPont and Pisgah's waterfalls and trails, Asheville, Brevard and more. This historic home is ideal for couples, business travelers or friends traveling together. 

The Guesthouse, established in 1938, has a celebrated history. Today, the fully renovated flats (this listing is for the Garden level)Please see listing for the upstairs Verandah level) offer guests all of the comforts of an elegant Southern home.

This home is not suitable for children under 12 years old.  No pets allowed.

Our History

The Brightwaters Guesthouse was originally built in 1938 as an 8 bedroom, 6 bathroom guesthouse. The founder, Samuel Childs, built the Brightwaters Guesthouse and Lodge and Dining Room, as well as 25 cottages  on his 400 acres, in the surrounding area. The entire resort was called Brightwaters Estates, and was frequented by guests, primarly from Florida, looking to escape the summer heat and enjoy the cool, mountain air. On the grounds of the Guesthouse,  Childs renovated an 1800's one-room schoolhouse to make it the dining hall for guests staying at the Guesthouse and the surrounding cottages. 

In the 1970's, the Guesthouse was renovated into 2 flats (one upstairs and one downstairs). Each flat had 2 bedrooms/2 baths, a living room, a dining and a kitchen. And the former, interior staircase was removed. 

Today, the Brightwaters Guesthouse takes back it's original name and has been refreshed and restored to it's former glory, exposing the refinished hardwood floors and tongue and groove paneling. The Brightwaters Guesthouse offer guests the opportunity to step back in time and enjoy it's timeless elegance. 

The Garden level flat is a great house for getting away to enjoy the outdoors. Very close to all of the best mountain biking and hiking trails - DuPont, Pisgah, Bent Creek and Mills River. Accommodates a maximum of 4 people. Minutes to grocery and restaurants. Only 11 miles from the Asheville Airport. The Brighwaters Guesthouse is centrally located to dining, breweries and entertainment in Hendersonville, Brevard and Asheville, as well as other areas, such as Tryon and Saluda. All within a 30 minute drive.

The Brightwaters Guesthouse:Garden level is on a quiet cul-de-sac in a small, private sub-division, owned by me. This is a multi-home property, so it is ideal for large groups. Check out my other cabins and homes for family reunions, wedding accommodations, church groups, etc. 

Things to do in the area

The home is only 3.5 miles from downtown Hendersonville. Minutes to DuPont Forest and Pisgah Forest waterfalls and trails. Within 30 minutes, you can be in Asheville, Brevard, Bent Creek, the Bike Farm in Pisgah Forest, The Gorge, Tryon International Equestrian Center, ziplining and white water rafting adventures. 

Check out Oskar Blues Brewery, Sierra Nevada Brewery, Bold Rock Cidery, St. Paul Mountain Vineyards, Burntshirt Vineyard and more. Even closer are all of the great restaurants, shops and breweries in downtown Hendersonville. Public golf course only 6 miles away. Kayaking and canoeing with Lazy Otter Outfitters is just 2 miles away. And in season, apple picking orchards are just minutes from the Guesthouse.
